Poor Google is crying in the corner and claiming being bullied by Apple and Microsoft

Poor Google is crying in the corner and claiming being bullied by Apple and Microsoft

“Microsoft and Apple have always been at each other’s throats, so when they get into bed together you have to start wondering what’s going on,” Drummond wrote in a blog post.

Google have lost a few bids of late for patents formally owned by Novell. The claims are that Apple and Microsoft among others are teaming up to block Google.

I don;t knwo about you but i have never seen any case of MS and Apple ever wanting to or actually have doing anything together. Microsoft report that they offered Google to come in on a joint bid for the patents that they refused.

And the mobile platform battle goes on..

The complex brain may be close(er) to being mapped

“Scientists say they have moved a step closer to developing a computer model of the brain after finding a way to map both the connections and functions of nerve cells in the brain together for the first time.”

A study in Nature recently explains how a group of researchers from the University College London (UCL) describe a process they have been developing to enable them to combine information about the functions and connections of neurons in mice.

The follwoing article goes on to explain how this may be used to help map the human brain and what this may mean to us.

Facebook gets enforcment of settlement in Winklevoss case

“Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss must accept a cash and stock settlement with Facebook that had been valued at $65 million, a U.S. appeals court ruled on Monday.”

As depicted in the recent “The Social Network” movie, the Winklevoss twins claim they were stifled by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in launching what has been reprted to be a Facebook like website. The claim has been settled but the Olympic rowers are far from please with the $65 million and Facebook share deal offered.

They have announced thier willingness to take this higher with a sophisticated team of lawyers ready to punce yet again to 9th Circuit judges who could overrule the 3 judge ruling against them to accept the settlement, beyond that they could go to US supreme court but it’s not looking good for them.

FeMail? Facebook introduces full featured email

FeMail? Facebook introduces full featured email

There’s quite a bit of hype around today about Facebook introducing full blown email.

Reports say that there will be full client as well as webmail access and that email will be filtered based on your activities. So if an email for example arrives that is from soemone not in your friends list, or not someone who has been tagged in a photo with you, the email would be filtered out.

It’s being claimed that this may just blow gmail out of the water, that remains to be seen i guess.

Personally i don’t use either, Exchange web access is my choice, i’m lucky enough to be able to host my own. Microsoft and other providers also offer exchange hosting at pretty good prices.

Apple faces music on iPhone flaw but recall unlikely | Reuters.

So….finally we see that Apple being a very immature phone developer have dropped the ball. This for me was totally expected, makes me laugh actually.

iPhone, iPad, iPod, they are all just marketing gimmicks with some nice design. The actuality of it all is that these are new to the market and there are many many choices for devices that hold as much music, look as good, have longer battery lives and more features but because Apple are so good at marketing and for the most part everyone else is so bad, we have bad technology winning out over good.

Why? because sheep like to follow the pack, be told what is good rather than try something new and assess for themselves.

My advice, take time to research technology, ask someone unbiased in the industry. There is so much great technology out there in the world these days, take the time to find it and you’ll be pleasently surprised.
